I have always been a very sentimental person and some of the things I treasure most are my family heirlooms, traditions and mementos that preserve special memories. This is a huge reason why I became a Photographer. Growing up, my parents handed down and created several family traditions, especially for all of the holidays. When I became a mom, continuing with the traditions I grew up with and finding new ones to create with my own children was very important. My husband and I always put forth an effort to make every holiday exciting and special for our kids, for our family. For us, the two major holidays each year are Christmas and Easter. Every year I look for new ideas to make our observance of these special days meaningful and memorable for our kids. Because there is no better place to go when in need of ideas and inspiration, I usually end up logging several hours of Pinterest on such occasions. This year I found a few great new ideas for celebrating Easter and remembering the Passion Week this year. Here are a few of my favorites:
These, and more awesome ideas can be found on our Pinterest Easter board here.
THE EASTER TREE. This super cute idea from Johnlund.com/blog.
21 Easter Eggs filled with symbols of Easter and the Easter Week lessons to go along with each symbol.
RESURRECTION EGGS. You have probably heard of Resurrection Eggs before, as they have become a pretty popular Easter staple over the last few years. There are several places you can grab a pre-made set of these 12 plastic Easter eggs filled with objects that help tell the story of the Passion of the Christ. This cute post from Saving Dollars & Sense has a great tutorial on how to make your own set, complete with pre-made printables.
MINI RESURRECTION GARDEN. I love, love, love this idea from Confessions of a Homeschooler! We will be doing this with the kids this week for sure! Such a neat visual reminder of the importance of Easter.
GOOD FRIDAY HAND STAMP. This is such a simple but amazing activity that serves as a powerful visual reminder during the observance of Good Friday from The Celebrated Family. A simple red stamp on the palm of each child’s hand with their name written over the top. “Your name was written on his palm”.
EASTER STORY COOKIES. A fun and delicious way to celebrate Easter and the Passion of Christ with your kiddos! I love object lessons, especially when baking and cookies are involved. I love to bake with my kids, we will be making time to make this cookie idea from Beneath the Heart as a family this week.
EASTER COLORING & PRINTABLE ACTIVITIES. My kids love arts and crafts… and coloring! I always have coloring pages and printable activities on hand for them.
