Drink Kombucha, it’s good for you! I love indulging in fancy drinks like Kombucha but I feel like I have to use the bottles again otherwise they are so wasteful. Then I go around town with the labels half peeled off, and looking straggly because I’ve been using them for so long. I had to fix it. I just had to make these bottles trendy. Here’s how you can make your own:
Wash your bottle in the dishwasher or by hand. Chances are the label will not peel off completely on it’s own. I found it easiest to use a mixture of hot water, Goo Gone and a plastic scrubbie to get the excess label off. I found Goo Gone in the dollar section at Target. When I was done getting the label cleaned off the bottle, I used a cotton ball soaked in Goo Gone to get the final residue. Wash and dry the bottle again.
- 2. Prep the bottle for painting by using painters tape around the bottle where you don’t want the paint. You could make stripes, top half, or bottom half.
Painting time! Use paint that you already have around your house because you only need a small amount. I personally love the mugs that you can use chalk on so I used black chalkboard paint. On one of my bottles, I made a mistake by using a flat matte paint. When the paint dried, it was a chalky feeling, which I can’t stand. I covered my mistake with a coat of Mod Podge Gloss-Lustre. Good as new. When painting, use a foam brush, and thin layers otherwise you will see drip lines. Cover the bottle with two coats of paint and be sure to let it dry completely before removing the painters tape.
Once the painters tape is removed you have a hip, one of a kind, water bottle!
