You might recall that my family has recently moved into a new rental home. This weekend was a big deal for us as we FINALLY got everything moved over (thanks to some really great friends and family and their trucks and vans) and we were able to get the old apartment cleaned out and the keys officially handed over- whew! Praise Jesus! Seriously, it has been a very long month. Never again will I do a December/ January move, that was rough. Needless to say, holding down two rent payments and paying utilities on two places has been quite the strain on our bank account, so I have had to get crafty as I have begun to try to get the new place decorated. This is why I have a huge crush on the Dollar Tree. Our local Dollar Tree is seriously amazing. It is brand new so it is super clean and organized and the stock is always fresh and new and wonderful! I have become their best customer- for real (the manager said those words to me).
Anyway, I wanted to share one of the super cute DIY projects I have undertaken this month thanks to my new relationship with the Dollar Tree.
TWINE WRAPPED TUB
I am forever needing storage containers. I love to organize, and so naturally containers are pretty exciting for me. I saw this tub at the Dollar Tree and knew I needed to have it. I am not a huge fan of the red color, but that was an easy fix, so I also grabbed a roll of twine, made sure I was stocked up on some hot glue sticks and I was off!
It’s super simple- just wrap the twine around the tub with a dap of hot glue every couple of inches.
It took me about half an hour to get it all glued down, but once it was finished, it was just what I had hoped it would be! My first idea was to use it at the top of my bookshelf to house a plant, but it was too tall.
I ended up using it on one of the shelves as a kind of catch all bin for my craft supplies (glue gun, twine etc.) poetic, right? 🙂 I kind of love the rustic simplicity of it.
