I recently found myself in the market for a new mattress and as much as I enjoy a shopping spree, it became immediately clear that mattress shopping is a little overwhelming. There are so many to choose from and they all claim to be the best. I enjoy my sleep as much as the next gal, so the best is certainly what I wanted, but I needed the best to come with a price tag that my bank account could handle.
As I began researching the options available to me, factoring in comfort, durability, health benefits and- of course- price tag, I quickly realized that I was heading towards the purchase of a pillow top mattress. There are many reasons behind the growing popularity of the pillow top, namely comfort and longevity and there is a wide range of options to choose from, allowing for accessibility to any budget. I strongly believe that mattress buying is one of those things that needs to be done in person, as it is important to try them out for yourself before making a final decision, but it is always good to narrow down your options through a bit of research beforehand so you can avoid the possibility of becoming completely overwhelmed.
To get you started, here are a few of the reasons I personally am now spending my evenings snuggled down in a new pillow top mattress.
- PAIN REDUCTION: The pillow top mattress offers an extra layer of padding, making it thicker than many other mattresses. This extra padding offers a level of support that keeps you from sinking into your mattress and finding yourself up against the wooden or metal frame of your bed during the night. The additional padding also offers a level of support for your spine, hips, back and shoulders while you sleep. This support can help in relieving pain by reducing stress to pressure points along your back.
- INCREASED LONGEVITY: Most pillow tops are made of high-quality memory foam or latex rubber, which can withstand pressure and weight without loosing their form for longer than most other mattresses. Many of the pillow top mattresses available, are also two-sided, increasing their durability even further.
- THE PRICE TAG IS WORTH IT: When compared to a traditional mattress, the pillow top can get quite a bit pricier. At first glance, the price tag made me a bit hesitant, as it does for a lot of people. The reason for the price difference is most certainly the higher quality and sustainability of the product. Between the extra padded layer, the high quality foams and the greatly increased longevity of these mattresses, the production alone is naturally more expensive. The serious upside to the price hike is that most pillow top manufacturers will provide a pretty great warranty, which gives the buyer some solid security and peace of mind with their purchase.
- COMFORT IS KEY: No matter who you are or what your budget is, when you are looking for a new mattress, comfort is key! With the many different body types out there, it can be hard to find that perfect mattress that meets all of our comfort needs. Let’s be honest, we ask a lot of our mattresses. We spend a good deal of our day on our mattress and we rely on it for a good night’s sleep. A lumpy, worn mattress that has lost it’s form will not only be extremely uncomfortable, it can also cause serious chiropractic issues over time. The great thing about a pillow top mattress, is that no matter what your comfort preferences or support needs, there is such a great variety out there that you are sure to find one that works for you.
There are several reliable online stores that offer quality options when it comes to pillow top mattress. Be sure to pre-set your budget in order to narrow down your options and keep from becoming overwhelmed. Most importantly, don’t forget to do your homework! Make sure you know the things you can and cannot do without in a new mattress. A new mattress can often be a hefty investment and choosing the right one can mean the difference between a great night’s sleep and a long road of nightmarish regrets.
